EHS students in the Government and Economics class of Steve Borys worked on a project called “Who Are the People Who Run your Neighborhood?"
Students interview officials in New York State, Westchester County, the Town of Eastchester, and the Eastchester Board of Education. The goal of the assignment is to expose students to the role each of these levels of government plays in their lives and how they can participate and shape the world in which they live.
Students are also encouraged to invite guest speakers to come to the class. This year they have had visits from Superintendent of Schools Dr. Walter Moran, New York State Assemblywoman Amy Paulin (pictured here with the class), Eastchester Town Supervisor Anthony Colavita, Westchester legislator Sheila Marcotte, and George Oros, the director of the Westchester County Office of Economic Development.
