When you walk down the hallway outside the Pupil Personnel Office at Eastchester Middle School, you are transported to the seaside.
Students in the High School Adaptive Arts class transformed a bulletin board into a beach when they painted sand and calming blue waters. The class completed the scene with many different colored fish, shells, coral and seaweed made from foam: the final touch - sea turtles.
Sea turtles are Dr. Noreen Urso’s favorite animal. As the sign above the bulletin board states, “Try to be like the turtle, at ease in your own shell.”
“I am so happy that the students took the time to create something that is very special to me. They went above and beyond to do this,” said Dr. Urso, who is the Assistant Superintendent of Pupil Personnel
Art Instructor Angela Rogan worked with the students for approximately a month. “They built this on their and own, and to see the culmination of a huge project like this is so important. The students see that doing work that takes time is meaningful.”
