Dr. Glass“Try to get to know yourself, know what makes you tick, what you love. Be honest with yourself and start now."

Eastchester School Superintendent Dr. Robert Glass shared his life experiences with Eastchester Middle School students on Dec. 20 during their Career Day.

Dr. Glass acted as the keynote speaker at the event and told the eighth-graders how he started his career in television production and discovered he had a passion for teaching and leading.

He explained to the students that every experience, even failure, will assist them in their journey.

"Every club you participate in, every after school activity, every internship, every time you visit your parents' business, these are all pieces of the puzzle."

Students then attended small group sessions with professionals from a variety of careers to find out what their positions entail and how they got there.

Professional lacrosse player Nick Spillane and sports broadcaster Bruce Beck also attended. Some of the speakers are alumni from Eastchester High School.

Architect Adamo Maiorano had this advice. "The more you put into it, the more you will get out of it. The more you practice, the better you will get, and the better you get, the more you will enjoy it."
